I believe most people are aware of how valuable article submission can be. It is a powerful way to promote your business and get your name in front of your prospects. Other benefits include being identified as an expert in your field, building instant credibility and creating trust among your readers.

Good articles - the ones that get published in newsletters, Ezines and newspapers - are the ones that speak to a specific audience. Identify who you would like to write to. Speak to that one specific person. Make your goal providing help to your reader, not promoting your business to him. Discover your audience's likes, dislikes, concerns and interests. Speak to these areas as you write.

Once your article is completed, the next step is getting it seen. Placing articles is easy if you know where to go. Here are a few new ideas that can with your article promotion:

Identify Your Reader's Gathering Places - trade organizations, business journals, locations that are known to your existing customers and prospects. Also, identify places that welcome white papers, presentations or thesis on business models or new theories. All these will most like receive articles, too.

Use the Internet Wisely- The Internet is a great tool for this promotional strategy. You can easily research specific magazines, Web sites or other outlets that you can send your articles to.

Join a Group or Web Site As An Expert - Join groups that need an expert to answer questions in various forums. Giving out FREE advice is relative to giving a free sample. In your signature, mention the fact that you have written articles that may be of help to the forum visitors, and provide the URL where the articles can be found.  Many of them may have Ezines or newsletters your articles can be published in.

Provide Article Copies At Trade Shows - Trades shows and exhibitions are an excellent place to offer copies of your articles.  Most trade show coordinators are looking for new information to include in their welcome packages. If you've written articles in regard to career transition, make them available free-of-charge (provided they include your contact information) to the local Job Fair or Job Expo.

Always keep in mind that is easier to sell to anyone that already knows you or has seen your name somewhere. Articles are an excellent way to complete that difficult first step in the customer's buying decision.
