Colon Cancer Symptoms and Treatment

Colon cancer is the type of cancer that occurs in the colon of a person and its successful treatment depends on the stage in which it is detected.

The cancer that affects the colon in the body is said to be colon cancer. The most dangerous part about this disease is that people neglect the symptoms and mistake it for disease like hemorrhoids, which leads to late detection and causes severe problems. Here is a list of symptoms that might indicate that a person is suffering from colon cancer:

• If there is rectal bleeding or there is blood in the stool of a person then they should immediately get it checked out from a doctor and see to it they are fully tested to see if they are suffering from colon cancer

• Sometimes the bleeding might not be visible it can be chronic and be evident in the form of anemia, which might also suggest that a person is suffering from colon cancer

• Sometimes abdominal pain can also be a cause of colon cancer if the tumour in the colon becomes large enough and blocks the colon

• Sudden loss of weight, decrease in metabolism, nausea and some other factors along with the ones mentioned above might also be considered symptoms of colon cancer

• Severe rectal pain and sensation of incomplete bowel movement are also considered two primary symptoms of colon cancer

The treatment of colon cancer depends upon the stage of the cancer and the amount of dosage the patient needs. Here is a list of methods adopted by doctors to treat colon cancer:

• Primary treatment of this disease includes surgically removing the part of a patients colon which has been affected by the tumour. This is a part of the treatment and the process is followed with high dosage medication to make sure that the tumour is completely destroyed.

• If the patient is in later stages of cancer, it becomes mandatory for doctors to use chemotherapy to decrease the size of the tumour with the help of radiation and then try and completely eradicate the tumour with high dosage of medicines.

Apart from these there are a lot of other treatments being researched for, so that the cancer can be cured as fast as possible.
