Patches are associated with many things. For the pilot it shows his wings. For the sports player it shows their team. For students, embroidered patches make a statement. There are many different reasons for patches for all types of people. Patches are a perfect representation of your team, your club, your department or unit or organization. They are a means to denote units and rank, membership in groups or clubs and individual achievement. Patches are sewn onto a garment or may be heat sealed using a hot iron and are designed according to the various needs of the customer.
In the olden days, a patch was a luxury enjoyed by the rich and royalties. Today, they are for everyone for many different reasons from fashion statements to showing rank or membership in a club or organization. When you consider custom embroidered patch, it is important to look around for the best price, experience and range of patches the company has to offer. There are many companies on the net, and definitely knowing how to select a company will be important.
What to look for in a patch company?
The first thing you might want to consider is cost. There are many different wholesale sites online that provide high quality embroidered patches and excellent customer service. State of the art equipment is used such as computerized embroider machines for the construction of the patches. With the advanced technology, the companies are able to produce more detail on the patches.
Some companies will have a minimum order and may have an added cost for additional colors, iron on backing or Velcro backing.
Materials are also another thing to look for. You definitely want a company that uses high quality materials that are fade-resistant and colors that blend well. Having machine washable materials is also an important consideration. Embroidered patches can be stiff and uncomfortable; therefore, it is essential to have materials that are not only durable but flexible. Having Velcro patches which can be removed before washing also adds life to the patch.
Experience of the employees in the company is another thing to consider. The company should have highly trained individuals that have experience in graphic design to help in the design of custom embroidered patches or iron on patches.
With custom patches you will need to send a picture of your existing patch, logo, sketch or drawing to the company so that they can create the patch. Different companies will have different requirements but most will ask that you send your file as a psd, eps, tiff, jpg, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator file. Artwork on CD - Rom may also be accepted.
Typically, the patch is applied to the tip of the sleeve of the garment, but can be sewn on anywhere on a garment. With Velcro patches the patch is simply placed on the Velcro and attaches in that manner. Finding the right company, with the right selection of goods, the right customer service and the right amount of experience combined with high quality materials is definitely what needs to be considered.
