The Predators Turn Out To Be The Quarry in Shark Sportfishing

I was eight years of age when I watched the movie Jaws and it wasnt until seven years later that the situation was to be turned around through shark sport fishing. Right after seeing Jaws, I was scared to go in the water. A few months later, I recognized they wouldn't come near you in shallow waters unless youre in a movie or extremely unlucky. But for years, I thought that sharks were always superior to mankind. That sharks destroy human beings but not the other way around.

Imagine my ecstasy when I realized that the hunter can actually become prey. I was fifteen when I found out I can track down sharks and Ive been tracking them since that time. Its like payback for my childhood lived in dread of the shark removing my limbs, letting me expire slowly, but definitely.

I really like shark fishing. I dont know if it is because I understand I can be superior than the shark or because its just fun. But while I really like being superior to the shark, it wasnt enjoyable when I saw pictures of how Taiwan fishermen were getting rid of hoards of biologically vulnerable sharks. These are sharks which are a bit of weaklings, not exactly the Jaws type.

The Taiwanese shark fishing is for the fins to maintain the Chinese specialty of using sharks fin as a delicacy. To be honest, I loved shark angling but I dont do it commercially. It was a hobby that would take 1 shark in one week or possibly two. Destroy one for dinner then put back one to live and propagate.

If you see the photographs acquired by the Pew Environment Group, you want to think twice about going shark fishing. Its really awful, taking a look at those de-finned and bleeding sharks left on the side of the road. Some are even chucked back into the water to perish. These fishermen are animals. They should be thrown into the water.

It brought to mind an image taken in Japan of fishermen eradicating dolphins and whales in shallow waters to supply the sushi industry. Tsk, tsk. Many Americans really love sushi, me, included. But once I saw that photo, I just quit consuming sushi.

As for the commercial shark fishing, the Taiwanese Government promised to create stiffer restrictions on this. It wasnt mentioned how but what was clear was that de-finned sharks should no longer be thrown back into the sea.
