The results of the recent online survey from Valued Opinions™ showed that men watch sports on the TV, much more than women.
It is not surprising that so many people watch sporting events on TV today. There are many channels now dedicated solely to sport, including a number of terrestrial channels airing an increasingly large number of events and matches. Since the success of the Olympics last year, the general public are becoming more and more interested in sports. As a result of this, we are now watching more sports on our TVs.
Online Survey Shows That Men Watch More Sports On TV
According to a recent online survey, watching sports on the TV is most popular amongst men. It was found that 16% of those who answered the survey said that they watch sports on TV every day. Of these 740 respondents, 61% were men and only 38% were women. When asked if they watched sports twice a week, 22% of respondents said they did. This total was split between the genders, with 52% of men and 48% of women watching sports on TV twice a week.
Nineteen percent of the participants answered that they never watch sports on TV. 77% of those who answered that they never watched sports on TV were women, and only 23% were men. From this is would appear that generally, women watch less sport on TV than men.
When it came to watching specific sporting events on TV, the results differed quite substantially to those covering general TV habits. In the survey by Valued Opinions™, recipients were asked to respond on how often they watched Wimbledon on TV. It was found that although men generally watch more sports on TV, women tend to watch more of Wimbledon.
With Andy Murray in the final, Wimbledon this year attracted almost 18 million viewers – higher than ever before. This was reflected in the results of the Valued Opinions™ online survey, whereby almost a third of the people studied would be watching Wimbledon every day on their TV.
