Motivation is the key to doing well at work. Whatever job you do, you have to feel motivated and enlivened by it if you are going to do well. Think back to a job you’ve had where you didn’t feel at all motivated. How well did you do there? Did you end up leaving because you didn’t enjoy working there anymore?
Now, think of a job you had where you did feel motivated to do well. The chances are you had a much better time of things than you did in the previous job we talked about. You can see just how important staff motivation is, and if it is your job to make sure your workers are motivated to do well, you know how important it is to make sure they’re happy.
But how do you do this?
The most obvious thing that many employees would mention is to increase their wages. This can indeed be a motivation but it tends to be a short lived one, even if the increase is a good one. It can be better to offer other incentives to motivate employees, such as additional fringe benefits. These could be extra days’ holiday or perhaps some kind of free health care plan if they achieve a certain amount.
Increasing the level of responsibility a worker takes on is another possibility. However not all workers will respond positively to this. Some people like being in the job they do and do not want to progress. Such cases need to be handled sensitively.
Staff motivation doesn’t just take place in the workspace though. It can also take place in other location, through various team building activities. These can provide a great excuse for getting out of the office and enjoying a completely different setting for a while. The activities vary a lot too, and can be anything from playing simple games to interacting with workmates to solve challenges or puzzles.
Some people are wary of team building activities like these, so it is worth finding a company that provides all manner of great activities to do. A company experienced in providing team building activities for staff motivation will have created a wide range of events to choose from. You may have a specific reason for considering team building, so you can choose an event that appeals to your particular goals. It’s not about making people feel self conscious, it’s about giving them a chance to let their hair down, have some fun and also enjoy getting to know their workmates a bit more. There is very little time to do any of this in the office.
So you can see there are several ways you can build the motivation levels of your staff. Just remember it is an ongoing process rather than something you attend to only occasionally.
To organize any particular conference, the most important thing is conference planning. To make your any event a successful event websites like www.penguins.co.uk provides services like event production, conference planning, corporate team building etc.
